Leafs Front Office 2026-27

The former is a reason none of them would be hired imminently, which Jonas didn’t suggest was a possibility let alone a priority, and the latter isn’t really much of an obstacle. All “under contract” means is you’ve got to ask permission. Are you saying they shouldn’t?
No, I'm just saying "Get these guys" isn't exactly straightforward with guys in the playoffs and under contract. The teams can unilaterally say no and it's case closed - we did this with Dubas when he was rumored to be going to the Avs. We also don't know who has an appetite to actually leave - how many are willing to even entertain the discussion during the playoffs? And if who you're targeting gets to the conference finals or finals and you've made it to June without a POHO/GM?

I don't see why most of these guys would be open to handling the Toronto tire fire compared to what they have now besides maybe money. Why would Tulsky leave when he just started being the GM two years ago? Vegas actively kept McCrimmon by moving McPhee to President. Avs - why when they're amongst the best teams in the league for now and the foreseeable future? Brisebois - maybe, but is he ever going to leave Tampa?

I'm not saying don't try, but there are a lot of hurdles to clear on the guys you've mentioned for very obvious reasons that aren't in the Leafs' control and probably not in their favour.

Yeah, I don't see why any of the established GMs take off for this franchise. Maybe if you had the opportunity to do a hard reset you are more inclined to do that, but that would be a more appealing job 2 years from now when the Leafs have all their draft picks again.

I'm genuinely asking this - can someone explain to me why people are falling all over themselves for Tulsky?

What has he does that merits this genius level label that seems to be affixed to him? I was just looking at his moves and nothing jumps out to me as 'this guy is something else!'. He's also only been GM for 2 seasons.

I guess I'm also biased in that Carolina has always confounded me. They just seem so unimpressively 'impresive', nothing about them screams that this should be a cup contender, yet there they are at the top of the standings.

Im not trying to shit on him, I just don't see the awesomeness of whatever it is he's doing.

I really like the D signings he made for Sean Walker and Mike Reilly. Both moves I wish the Leafs would have made.

He definitely gets props for trading to get Rantanen, one of the premier players in the league in an actual hockey trade even if it ultimately didn't work out.

Also tougher decisions like letting Pesce walk and not re-signing Roslovic seemed to have been well played.

Overall he's been bringing in good players making good moves and not making bad moves.

Signing Gostisbehere and acquiring Miller from the Rangers both seem to have been big wins for him too. Maybe not Mike Reilly as much but with Walker too that's 3 puck-moving defencemen that the Leafs desperately needed.

Not to keep twisting the knife but the Leafs paid more for Carlo than the Canes did for Miller... and the 1st round pick they gave up was top-10 protected.
