Aside from roster flexibility for minor injuries, playoff rosters have to be cap compliant now. A lot less incentive to worry about accruing cap space

I just have a hard time seeing where even a Tanking for McKenna team would waste a roster spot on him. You need bad players to fill out bad rosters but I think you would at least want a player who can play hockey and could have the slight chance of returning an asset at the trade deadline...

Free agency basically is. This isn't like a lot of years where there are really solid middle 6 forwards who are going to sit around until August to get a contract. Any upgrades to the team are going to cost assets through trades now. That's all I'm getting at

I think it's fine to project some positive stuff but this can go in both directions. Losing Marner doesn't make it easier for Matthews to score goals. Matthews health should also be a question mark. The mystery behind his injuries leaves it open ended on whether he can actually stay healthy...

They don't match up well with Florida...but they didn't before Ehlers either. They were never going to be able to change that with this mediocre offseason. Where I might disagree is that Carolina's play style couldn't still beat the Leafs. Florida is obviously the favourite to win again...

Eh.....they added Miller and Ehlers to a team that finished 3 points behind the Leafs in the standings. I get that you are on an anti-Marner campaign but the Leafs are a much worse team right now than last year.
