Due to the leafs being so close to the cap and the mess that finds them in I think they have no choice but trade Phaneuf, Gardiner, Lupal and maybe even Bozak. One return they must get is a number 1 center even if Nylander develop[s into that in the next couple of years.

Carlyle needs to adaptsystem to fit the team he has. He refuses to do that. Plus he needs to use fourth line more. It showed at the end of the season as the top line and top players were tired. To do tat he needs to getrid of two of his favorites Orr and McClaren.

This does not make sense. Yes it is nice to have your system as a coach but you coach with what you have. Carlyle refused to do that. He refused to play 4 lines as other teams did plus insisted on playing Orr and McClement. I see wholsale changes coming.

One of the things the leafs need besides a coach who is more of a motivator are more leaders in the dressing room. Kessel is not the type of player to be a vocal leader. Bolland could be but injury hampered that. We need to get some more vocal players or have players step up and do that on the team.

As for Nonis I would have said let him have a chance to prove himself having a full year including thedraft and summer free-agency period to prove himself except at the trade deadline he stood pat with a Vanek available and virtually given away.

The coach must use the players he has. Carlyle does not have the players to play his defensive system nor are they available even over the summer via trade/free agency. He has not and will not adapt his system therefore he must be  fired. It may be too late for  this season as they may have to...
