    2026 Olympics

Czechia is a sneaky good team. Don't have the depth some other countries do, but excellent goaltending and enough firepower to keep themselves in games. They're a bit of an under the radar medal threat.

    Oilers vs. Leafs - Feb. 3rd, 8:30pm - SN

Every playoff team in the East would be leading the Pathetic . . . I mean Pacific division. It's nuts how top-heavy the West is and how balanced the East is.

    Flames vs. Leafs - Feb. 2nd, 10:00pm - TSN4

I think we probably need to come to terms with the fact that, without serious lottery luck, the Leafs aren't getting their pick back this year. Even before these two wins, their odds of getting into the bottom 5 were only slightly higher than their odds of making the playoffs. So, let's rack up...

I'd bring him in in some sort of player development role, but that's probably it.

    Armchair GM Thread 2025/26

He's become their 3rd string goalie behind Jarry and Ingram. This is jsut roster management.

    Canucks vs. Leafs - Jan. 31st, 7:00pm - SN

I know Rielly was never great defensively, but he’s been so much worse these last two years.

2025-26 Toronto Maple Leafs General Discussion

Who isn’t in the market for those things, really? Every team could use more top end talent. It wouldn’t shock me if the Leafs sold some sort term pieces and bought a longer term one or two. Sometimes, the deadline creates opportunities that you need to take advantage of.

    Kraken vs. Leafs - Jan. 29th, 10:00pm - SN

I think less Pelley involvement is better than more of it, considering his track record. The team would be well served bringing in someone to takeover some of Shanahan's duties and to act as a buffer between the board/Pelley and the GM.

2025-26 Toronto Maple Leafs General Discussion

To be fair, to some degree, this is a league-wide issue. Player for player trades that actually have an impact have become more and more rare. If there's a player with any real value getting moved, it's almost always for prospects/young players/futures. The "hockey trade" is a dying breed, in...

He's more of a capologist than a guy who can run a team. I'm not sure we want his first kick at the can to be as important a deadline as this one could very well be.

Yup. There's no rebuilding for the Leafs until 27/28 at the earliest, unless Boston and/or Philly do the Leafs a huge favour and trade those 1st round picks back. Best we can hope for right now is a proper retool around the current core and goalies.

    Sabres @ Leafs - Jan. 27th, 7:00pm - TSN4

GMs usually get a pass on the first coach firing - especially if it happens early in their time with the new team - because they didn't hire the guy. And, I'm not advocating for Treliving to stay. I'd can him as soon as the season ended (though, I have my doubts whether a team would can both GM...

I think it has to happen the other way. Berube first, see what the team is like under a more puck possession focused style and if (when?) that fails, dump Treliving. Easier to replace a coach during the season than a GM.

OEL brings back a 1st if the Leafs move him.
