Armchair GM Thread 2026/27

I think the Leafs should inquire about Harley from Dallas if they're going big game hunting. Dallas needs cap space to sign Robertson who is going to get paid.
 
Anybody else feel that yesterday was so busy that they just missed things? Like the Rangers did stuff but I didn't even notice till this morning.
 
I'm not trying to trade Rielly, but I'm staring at the Leafs' maxed out+ cap sheet right now, and Anaheims 30+M in space (they need to re-sign Carlsson, Gauthier, and Mintyukov) thinking there might be something there. I think Anaheim is waiting for the Carlsson and Guathier contracts to formalize before they juggle the rest.

It's their right side that's been gutted though with Carlson, Trouba, and Gudas all leaving via free agency. They still have LaCombe and Mintyukov on the left side which is really decent.

But yeah pretty bizarre offseason for them so far. I'm surprised they didn't move McTavish for a RHD knowing that they were unlikely to retain any of those pending UFAs. Feels like they're poised to take a step back after making the playoffs for the first time in 8 seasons.
