That's a spicy meatball. He's still a pretty young guy though, so he could actually play through the entirety of this contract and then some. That can't be said for most of the other long term mega deals that have been handed out since the new CBA.

It is a long time, no doubt. Lots can happen there. But a goalie playing at age 36 isn't close to unheard of. At 42, 43, 44...well...

It is possible that he isn't. But it is also possible that at a 5.8M cap hit, he's a tremendous value for a good number of years. 10 years is a long time...not quite DiPietro long, but long enough...

If he holds up, for sure. If not, he's not even overpaid by today's standards. In 2022, we'll probably look at his deal like we look at Armstrong's.

It's still kind of stunning. He's come a long way in a pretty short time and really cashed in.
