While Marner is a fantastic talent, I totally agree.  I think he's a $8-9M player.  Goal scoring should trump passing and assists.  But even still, I think Matthews' contract was also too rich for a 2nd contract.  Granted, not by much and McDavid's 2nd contract screwed the whole league over.

I hope we can put to rest the questions about his ability and try to cheer him on.  Yes it's still early but I believe it's different than in the past.

We have to be careful about high priced FAs.  Matthews, Nylander, and Marner will all command a lot when they are off their ELC.

Why would you mess up Nylander/Matthews when it's clicking just to add another guy to their line?  Leave Nylander where he is and have Brown make the adjustment if you even put Brown there.  Personally, I'd like to see Soshnikov there.  That would be a rocking line.  Basically a higher skill...

I agree.  I think if Hyman swaps with Sosh then that will be an explosive line.  It weakens the 4th line and maybe doesn't get Martin going as much but it would be a great scoring line.  I wouldn't even mind seeing Sosh with Kadri and Brown.

He didn't do that after Martin gave him notice.  That's what I was saying.  My point is, you think it's bad now?  Wait till you remove Martin out of the lineup.  The other team looks over and sees no protection for the Leafs and it will be open season on Marner, Nylander, and Matthews.

He went after Petrovic.  He doesn't have to fight but as long as he puts it into the opposing team's head not to mess with our star guys, that's enough.  It's not always what you do.  Also, he goes out and bangs people a lot.
