First off, I'm thrilled to have my health back to a point where I have the energy/enthusiasm to post on the internet again, because it's very fun discussing these things on here with you guys. In his two seasons prior to this awful season, Grabbo was a high 20's goal scorer and high 50's point...

I don't like Burke's personality at all and I'm glad that he's gone, but in his defence If Komisarek and Beauchemin played like the solid top 4 defensive Dmen most, if not everyone, thought they were before TO signed them then Burke would probably still have a job. Considering they didn't miss...

What are your opinions on his skating? I've read some comments on here about his skating not being very good but I'm not sure if the people who made those comments were referring to his backwards skating or forwards skating. Skating has always been talked about as one of his strengths and he...

As much as I dislike Burke, I can't really fault him for the Komi and Beauch signings as there were quite a few other GM's that seemed to also think they would be good additions which is why the price got driven up to where it did. The general consensus around people in hockey, the media and...

It isn't for me either. Most people consider Toews to be a franchise player and I have no problem with that despite the fact that Toews isn't a ppg player. Toews is very good defensively, tough, a great leader and has shown the ability to raise his level of play and be great in the playoffs. The...

To clarify, my point wasn't that we definitely need to draft a Dman, it was that most people seemed to be only talking about drafting a forward which didn't make sense to me since our D is as bad as it is. So we seem to be on the same page then.

I strongly disagree about Nash being a franchise player, he's basically been a 70 point player in Columbus. He hasn't had much support, but history show that elite players put up big numbers regardless of support. Nash isn't going to go from a 70 point player to a 100 point player with good...

Well Toronto sure has had a hard time trying to improve defence/goaltending through draft/free agency/trade in the last few years. I think drafting a player who turns out to be a stud #1 dman would go a long way in helping our D.

We are 3rd last in goals against, and 8th in goals for, how do we need a top six forward much more than a defenceman?

I don't think I'd offer that to anyone not named Crosby, and now with his concussion issues I wouldn't even offer him that.

Yes, in that case that's true. I wasn't thinking about the new CBA. Out of curiousity, what do you think Phaneuf is worth right now?

I know that Burke didn't think Phaneuf was playing like a 6.5 million Dman when he traded for him, but I'm assuming, as many others did when the trade was made, that Burke's thinking was by giving him a change of scenery and making him the captain that he'd get back to the level he was playing...

I think it's realism, I really can't see Burke re signing Dion for 4.5 mil and basically admitting he brought in a bad contract and that Dion didn't play anywhere near what he was worth. I could be wrong, but I'm pretty confident on that.

You can't compare Liles and Phaneuf, Phaneuf was a huge deal for Burke and was made captain right away.

Well the TSN article stated that he could slide well down the rankings.

Depends if Burke is still around, if he is I don't see him signing Phaneuf for a lot lower than he brought him in for because of Burke's ego.

Or maybe if he wasn't so easily intimidated he would be in the middle of his 4th straight 40+ goal season.

Offensively, given that scenario. But, as I've pointed out, Seguin is significantly better all around.

When have I ever said I think Dion is a bad Dman? I would like having Dion on this team if he wasn't getting paid anymore than 4 mil a year. He's a 45-50 point Dman who is just average or a bit above average in his own end. He's nowhere near worth 6.5 mil and at the time it added another greatly...

Huh? You think the Phaneuf deal is one of Burke's good trades?
