Babcock will be back next season

So, just to be sure I follow your logic here, people should ignore the fact that Keefe has a solid track record of success (even over achieving with this year's team) in favor of the belief that since Eakins did not work out as hoped for, neither will Keefe?

Babcock will be back next season

Sports radio is filled with people talking about the stock of Sheldon Keefe rising and that teams like Ottawa, Buffalo and Edmonton will come calling on him. The Leafs can afford to pay him plenty as an AHL coach, but at some point he is going to want to be in the big show - get off the buses...

    Auston Matthews

So, apparently Matthews had screws in his leg from a past injury. Today they were removed and the reason for doing this is that he has back pain which has been attributed to the screws. I have never heard of that before, but if it helps him then that is great.

2019 Toronto Maple Leafs Offseason Discussion

I had the radio on TSN 1050 for a bit while I was driving around earlier and all they are talking about is Mitch Marner and the Leafs. Not their talent and not what they might be able to do next year etc. Nope, all they talked about was money, cap and contract for almost an hour. Remember when...

Playing The "What If" Game Re: Mike Babcock

That is a good read and seems like the rational way of thinking. But darn it man.... I am a fan and have been for a very very long time. The Leafs have a window here where they can shoot for a Cup and I cannot fight away the feeling in me that Babcock cannot and will not get it done. Sheldon...

Playing The "What If" Game Re: Mike Babcock

Is that fair? I am all for having the discussion about it being time for him to go, but I would not say that all 4 years was underwhelming. Year 1 - they tanked and they got the pick (Matthews) that they wanted Year 2 - drafted Matthews, started playing Marner, and signed Freddie -  got 95...

Playing The "What If" Game Re: Mike Babcock

Anyone feeling any differently now? The knee-jerk reactions against Babcock are strong right now. That aside, I think it might be prudent to put Kefe in place and let him run the team. - I do not like the way Babcock manages ice time - I do not think he matches lines - or even mixes lines...

    College free agents

Per Leafs PR, they have signed Joseph Duszak to a two-year future enrty-level deal. He joins the Marlies now on an AHL tryout.

    Leafs @ Canucks - Mar. 6th, 9:00pm - SNO, TSN 1050

A few weeks ago against Montreal, Zaitsev took a penalty with about half a minute left in regulation in a tie game. The Leafs went on to win that game in overtime, but not before the entire penalty was killed using just two forwards - either Hyman or Brown. And Brown was on the ice for the...

The odd man out should be Marleau, but they won't do that.

I heard this morning that Kadri is considered a game time decision for tonight.

2018-19 Toronto Maple Leafs - General Discussion

I do think that this is panic. It is an observation. The Bruins play a game that is more suited to the playoffs than the Leafs, they are particularly hot right now (so hitting your stride in the spring is good) and they have experienced players in their absolute primes. They also have...

2018-19 Toronto Maple Leafs - General Discussion

I am not going to start a thread about this, and I wouldn't even know how to create a poll.... but I will ask... does anyone believe that as the rosters stand today the Leafs can, or will beat the Bruins in the playoffs? I don't. Love this team. Love the improvements. Love the direction. But...

Playing The "What If" Game Re: Mike Babcock

Right now I am interested in simply winning a round. That has to happen before they can ever win a cup, and I am not saying that simply to be a smart ass. This team has loads of talent, but there is still a reasonable chance that they cannot make it out of the first round. If that happens for...

Playing The "What If" Game Re: Mike Babcock

My thought on this is that windows of opportunity are short these days in the NHL. If the Leafs think they have the right group on the ice but cannot win even a round, then it is natural that other changes would be considered.

Playing The "What If" Game Re: Mike Babcock

I am not interested in guessing what the fanbase will be thinking if they retire early this year, but I can likely assume. I was only wondering if that is something that anyone here thinks might actually happen? How would we know if there is a rift or not? How do we ever know if they are on...

2018-19 Toronto Maple Leafs - General Discussion

That must have taken some digging. I should do the same.... I am sure we would all think differently if we knew then what we know now. I do not have to look for a post to remember that I thought Strome was the better pick than Marner. I guess that is why I am not a hockey executive or scout.

Playing The "What If" Game Re: Mike Babcock

IF the Leafs fail to win a playoff round this year do you think Mike Babcock's job is safe? He will be 4 years into an 8 year deal, so that makes it seem like he should be safe, but what about the other side of the coin? 1. That would be 3 first round losses in a row 2. The players are by...
