Bernier's Arbitration Case | Sides settle at 2 years, $4.15mil AAV

I won't dispute that he can be good. As far as I know, he may not be part of the problem, but more of a victim of a bad dressing room and an unstable coaching staff. There will likely be a few players from last year that improve with a culture change.

Bernier's Arbitration Case | Sides settle at 2 years, $4.15mil AAV

I dunno...I didn't watch a lot of Leafs last year (obvious reasons) but Bernier seemed to fall into the quitter category when I did see him play. No stats to back that up...just an opinion. If I did have stats they would be pretty arguable anyway....team in front of him, always facing quality...

Bernier's Arbitration Case | Sides settle at 2 years, $4.15mil AAV

That's how I felt when Raycroft was in net. All I wanted was a roster blowup. That team was going nowhere with or without him. There were a few good players, but depth was nowhere to be seen.

Komarov in deep do-do with the law in Finland

...after he slammed you into the meridian and stole your coffee.

Lou Lamoriello named Leafs General Manager

What caught my eye in the above article was that Larry T talked to Lou before the hiring. It's reassuring knowing we have a commitment from ownership here. Whatever Larry said, Lou was in agreement.

    The Leafs Management vs NHL

I'm feeling really good about the state of the Leafs as well. Weird to say that after such a dismal season (dismal last 10 or so), but a turnaround is being staged. All this group need is some time.

What's more important. winning the Cup or sustainable winning?

I remember this debate. My was position was (and still is) that I want to be entertained for my time investment in watching a game. I love good hockey. It's a thing of beauty. If I have a better than 50% chance of seeing some great play, I'm a happy viewer. A cup would be a reason to raise a...

    Corsi Numbers

I'm gonna regret this, but I don't recall Hobarth saying goals are a good measure and Corsi isn't. You're building some sort of person to argue with, using straw perhaps.

    Kessel traded to Penguins

Hah! That's funny. That was pretty much the same as his meet n' greet, wasn't it?

    Kessel traded to Penguins

I was about to post the same thing. All he needs to be considered a better than average source is to have trained, played, talked, travelled, etc...with the guy. Not saying he's a 100% source (lots of disclaimers to avoid major details), it's not isolated.

    Kessel traded to Penguins

I dunno....after all the uncertainty regarding Kessel's influence before the trade, the fact that he was run out of town for a bag of peanuts is enough for me. Some other reasons could be he decided he wanted out, or the Leafs desperately want to finish last and feel he will stand in the way...

    Kessel traded to Penguins

That's some heavy back-pedalling there, Colby.

    Kessel scores how many?

41...and is traded within 3 years. He stays that long because he scores lots.

    Kessel traded to Penguins

Sure. Any of us who work in a group environment know well the impact of those who choose to cut corners. The fact that Phil is super talented makes it justifiable for those who are impressionable, and irritating as hell for those that don't. If the dogma is, "We're all in this together", then I...

    Leafs add Arcobello

Awesome idea. Just for the first two seasons of the rebuild. Any one with a 3 year contract or more at that point gets their name on their jersey.

    Kessel traded to Penguins

Whether we or any other outsiders feel the "Kessel-as-toxic" thing is real or not is silly. The Leafs clearly felt he wasn't part of the plan by what we saw today. This tells me they just don't want this guy in their dressing room for another minute. Will the Leafs miss his production? His...

    Kessel traded to Penguins

I was going to comment on this move, but you pretty much summed up my thoughts on the deal...so....ditto to this.

    Coach Mike Babcock

Still, the media never got to him or appeared to be a problem for him. Personally, I have little sympathy for 90% of the roster, but I do recognize that most respected coaches avoid that. It distracts the team. RC didn't want to distract the Leafs from what they...er...were..doing.

    Coach Mike Babcock

Good point. I thought RC did a pretty good job at media in this town. He never got too rattled, laughed and joked at the inane stuff and gave the ol' compete level speech nightly. In and out, nobody hurt.

    Coach Mike Babcock

Yes. He's likely referring to a group of players. If it was a lone player or two he wouldn't talk as if it were a team issue, which he seems to be doing. It's disturbing to think that these types of things are happening, but I don't doubt it for second. It fits right in with how this team...
