What would it take to move the 1OA pick?

Exactly, The Leafs won't be doing the return Quinn Hughes got, they'll want roster players. LA can throw in a 1st pick too, I won't complain. 😃

What would it take to move the 1OA pick?

There was no way to predict the Leafs were going to be awful this and I think there is no way to predict the Leafs are going to be awful next season. Having McKenna in the fold for the next 3 seasons below $1m is going to be such a godsend to the roster. The Leafs can spend in other areas over...

What would it take to move the 1OA pick?

There isn't consensus among pundits that Stenberg is the #2 pick so I doubt McKenna isn't the #1 pick. That's my take.

What would it take to move the 1OA pick?

If Matthews moves this offseason I think it's for a type of return similar to what we saw for Matthew Tkachuk, NHL Roster players and not futures. Something I suggested in another thread was Quintin Byfield + Brandt Clarke for Matthews. They'll want something in return to remain competitive...

What would it take to move the 1OA pick?

My only problem with that is whatever team trades a 1st round pick as a return for a Matthews or a Nylander is not (probably) going to be a high pick. It will probably be a later round 1st round pick as the teams Nylander or Matthews go to will be going for it. Rebuild in 2 years when you have...

What would it take to move the 1OA pick?

I can't stress this enough, the Leafs don't have their 1st round pick for the next two seasons. "Rebuilding" and tanking gets you nothing.

What would it take to move the 1OA pick?

Because the Leafs are going to be good. Adding McKenna changes everything. The Leafs don't have their 1st round pick for the next 2 years. What are you rebuilding with? Why tank going forward, at least in the next 2 years?

What would it take to move the 1OA pick?

I don't think you have to move out anyone. It's legacy building. You ride Tavares, Matthews, and Nylander until they call it quits and you transition to a core of McKenna, Knies, and Cowan after that. Hopefully Danford can be a solid piece in the future. I'd say they are set in goal with Woll in...

    NHL Draft 2026

All contingencies for the pick in the Carlo trade should have been made at the time. Classic NHL joke league.

    NHL Draft 2026

    McKenna above Marner.

What would it take to move the 1OA pick?

I suggested the following in the 2026 Draft thread: Adam Fox + 5th overall pick for Brandon Carlo + 1st overall pick. That might be tempting, you could land a top young defenseman already established in the league and possibly a top d prospect. (1 of the top 3 D in the draft should be...

    NHL Draft 2026

I believe so. If in 2 years the Leafs are't turning things around you can unload everyone and start fresh with McKenna.

    NHL Draft 2026

That's the way it's always been explained. Philly thinks the pick next year is now theirs unprotected and Boston gets 2028 1st.

    NHL Draft 2026

If the pick lands outside the top 10, it goes to Philadelphia. If the pick is inside the top 10 the Leafs can choose to give it to either Boston or Philadelphia.

    NHL Draft 2026

Adam Fox + 5th pick for Brandon Carlo + 1st pick? (Verhoeff is predicted by some to go at the 5th overall spot)

    NHL Draft 2026

I think Verhoeff could do it. He's playing against men in college.

    NHL Draft 2026

Yeah, Gavin would be coming into the league with more hype than Marner.
