I am not able to watch.  What is going on with McCabe?

The tough thing for me when looking at the situation is that he is already 28 years old and  Marshall Rafia is 2 years younger, plays a similar rugged game and is signed for next year as well.

I like that perspective.  I was thinking the Leafs might be able to pull off a "Pittsburgh" model (with all due respect to Brian Burke) with Matthews, Nylander, Marner all hitting their prime, Rielly in his prime and Tavares still playing like a star.  With: - some forward depth, like...

I really don't understand the negotiating stance the Leafs took with this deal. If the player was willing to take less than expected then give him the NTC.  If you are paying him top dollar than he loses the NTC.  Nylander got both. If the deal is 8 then the player takes less as they decline...

I agree 100%.  I want to love him and he has shown reasons for it this year that I had not seen so consistently before.

I felt Marner has been off as well.  I was wondering if I was actually seeing something or just making it up.  He has a great hockey IQ, offensive awareness, defensive awareness, phenominal skating, passing and shooting.  None of it seems to be clicking yet this year.

Me too.  I have been wondering all year, "What was all the hype in signing this guy??!"  I really hadn't seen him play before this season besides hockey hilights from last years playoffs and read some of his stats which were typically bad.

There are players that I don't miss from last year like Kerfoot, Bunting (and his antics and subsequents issues with the refs), Holl, etc.  I do miss O'Reilly and Schenn and Acciari but they were getting older and the latter 2 were given MUCH more money than I was expecting. I was disappointed...
