I'm strongly doubting that Sparks will remain our backup for much longer.  Just too many flaws in his game.

Unless puck is shot at his trapper, Sparks pretty much always has trouble with rebound control.

I also thought Marincin had a solid game (and I'm not sure I've ever given him praise before). Sparks was terrible though.  Zero rebound control, does not fight to see pucks thru traffic and for the most part plays way too deep and low.

I've really liked Greening's game tonight. A bit of a long shot, but I wouldn't mind at all if he took a spot on our 4th line, brings a bit of a physical edge that is needed.

We obviously see his value very differently.  I think he was a little wore down by game 7 and had played 26 tough minutes Monday.  Having a stud defensive defenceman that can play the tough defensive minutes would certainly benefit guys like Gardiner.

No you're right, but some size and toughness does help.  Guys like Brown, Nylander, Johnsson, Marner, Plekanec aren't going to physically intimidate too many players in this league.

One important thing.....we are missing the personnel to do that goonery
