This is probably an unpopular opinion, but I would even consider going 11 and 7 and bringing in Myers as a big body fresh dman that can inflict some pain and take some tough minutes away from some others. He would be an improvement over how Rielly looks in his own end.

hopefully Jarnkrok sits, Ive seen enough of his limbs moving fast yet not really having any impact. Its also hilarious watching him try to hit someone with no affect

Is it just me or is there a serious lack of effective PK forwards on this team (especially from bottom 6)? Shouldn't have to consistently throw Matthrews and Marner to block shots. Imo, Laughton seems pretty useless (along with Jarnkrok) on pk. Neither are quick enough to pressure pucks nor...

I dont know if there is a spot for him, but there's a lot to like about Phillipe Myers and the way he has played in preseason.  He's a RH shot, 6ft 6 and can skate well. Not overly physical but still effective in his end.

The right move and quite frankly was long overdue. Tavares has always looked stoic and quiet on the bench and never had the ability to go on the ice and do something to get the team fired up.

What do you guys think of finding Robertson a new home (not sure they could get much more then a 3rd rounder in  return) and then signing Ufa Alex Nylander to a 1 year? I'm sure he would be super motivated to come and play with his brother and could move up and down the lineup as needed. I know...

Far too much for a 3rd pairing guy whose game has never translated well to playoff hockey. So now they have even less cap space to try and remodel the defence.

As long as they are evaluating players based on their abilty to be impactful in playoff style hockey. In the Dubas era the template seemd to favour skill regardless of size. Look at the 2020 draft, Leafs take Roni Hirvonen at 59th who is sandwiched between Mason Lorei and Will Cuylle, two guys...

I dont think that the defensive deficiencies of this team would be cured with Woll between the pipes. 

Someone please explain to me why Giordano still gets a regular shift in this league.

I have also been impressed with what Ive seen of Lajoie. He is definitely the most mobile fill in option we have seen on backend. Seems to move the puck with confidence.

Robertson is not a guy I would send out for 3 on 3.  Man to man coverage is not his strong suit.

Gio has to go, dont think that Benoit is the answer for #6 dman but come on there has to be better options on Marlies or toiling in minors somewhere. Hawks have a decent blueprint for success, lots of speed up front and towering defencemen with long reaches that take away space and passing lanes. 

That was my exact takeaway on the winner as well and I will continue to rag on Giordano until they finally realize that he is not a top 6 Dman anymore.

I do like how the roster is taking shape now. Three guys I would like to shed from roster to create further room for upgrades would be Jarnkrok, Timmins and Giordano.  You should be able to fill those holes easily with better options.

I do agree but finding skilled guys making 7+ that consistently finish hits is more rare, that's why it is that much more important to round out rest of lineup (particularly bottom 6) with players of that nature. We will see what Treliving has up his sleeve, but right now team is still way to...
