I guess in a one goal game, with Kadri and Lupul out, there wasn't much choice but to overplay them if they were looking to get a point out of it. On the flipside, it says something about the quality of the first line, so perhaps some juggling was needed.

Ditto. He shares some attributes, apart from chronic IRitis. I see Lupul as on only still being on the roster because (a) they can't move him without taking back salary, or (b) management is still delusional on what they consider assets are moving forward.

I'd rather see a full rebuild now, over taking the chance of the team's unsustainable play of low possession/high shot differential making the playoffs. I guess its a telling state of affairs when "making the playoffs" is the panacea for some fans, rather than constructing a top NHL team that...

In defense of the fans, there's a solid track record to refer to, and multiple seasons of the same core/top line players showing an inability to compete night in/out, even against mediocre teams. Every year the leafs draft out of the top 5 is a wasted opportunity, and I think true frustration...

Always loved the team, hate the majority of the players on it. If Shanahan doesn't completely blow this fiasco up prior to the draft, imo he'll have confirmed the naysayers that think he's not experienced enough for the job.

There's a lot of similarities between the two teams. Big offense, middling defence. Stars first line is better, but Toronto is deeper up front. Leafs have better goaltending, and Stars play in the tougher division. Otherwise they'd be side by side in the standings, I'd figure.

I believe what the fellow is referring to is that "relative weight of coaching" in comments are far more overrepresented in a loss than a win.
