well that was spooky!

I'm going to hate seeing stamkos in a wings uniform for the next 7 years

Bryan Hayes ‏@HayesTSN  2m2 minutes ago Babcock also made it clear that the best players will play that night. So, Matthews/Kadri/Bozak minutes will likely change game by game.

Bryan Hayes ‏@HayesTSN  1m1 minute ago Babcock just told us Matthews will start the season as 3rd Centre behind Kadri & Bozak. And points out that Nylander will be on the wing.

my point though is that I think there is an emotional reaction produced from trading away a 1st round draft pick.  I mean, there are only 30 of them every year and the leafs had 2 and now they have one.  I don't think there is much of a practical difference between picking 30th and 31st but I...

what if it was 31 and 2017 2nd? 2 2nds for andersen.  Would people feel better if that was the deal as opposed to a 1st and a 2nd.

if they had signed him to an offer sheet it would have cost a 1st and a 3rd...their own picks.  They moved the third to a second in order to be able to use pittsburgh's 1st...at least thats how I see it.  Plus if they use one of SJ's 2nds it'll in all likelihood be lower than the leafs next...

I wonder if durability had something to do with this...ie. the most games reimer played for the leafs in a season is 37 (his first year) and he battled injuries most of his time here, whereas anderson has eclipsed that number in 2 out of 3 seasons he played for anaheim topping out at 54 gp. add...

Bob McKenzie ‏@TSNBobMcKenzie  30s30 seconds ago Andersen's AAV is $5M on the button. $25M total value for five years.

i'd be interested in lehtonen if he came with nichushkin

then they could accelerate the 5 years by signing stamkos...HAHA

I'd love for them to start drafting and developing their own goalies.  Reimer is the only guy they have done it with since potvin.  If they don't make any moves to move up in the draft this year they could probably pick the best goalie in the draft with pittsburgh's pick so I think that would be...

so if I'm reading this right the leafs should be trying to pick up a good, young goalie.  Someone 25 years old or younger, in line with the core they are trying to build here. Its nothing they haven't tried before, its just a matter of picking the right goalie.  They haven't done it yet with...

yeah thats my take on it too...they have a third line C signed for 4.5 long term who is still young and not too long ago was considered a possible first line talent.  If he is used as a 3rd line C he will be one hell of a third line C (offensively at least).

you guys make me laugh...if this is that big of a deal maybe the leafs should just forfeit the pick.  I mean, the guy and his coach have both repeatedly said that he is ready to play anywhere and was prepared for the fact that he is coming to canada (prior to the lottery) and now is saying that...

same reason that others want to trade jvr...you have to give to get.

One of the interviews with marc crawford got me excited.  He said that in 2012 during the lockout come of the nhl superstars came over to the swiss league to play.  Guys like rick nash, joe thornton, patrick kane to name a few but none of them dominated the league like 18 year old auston...

I wonder also if the leafs will still be in on vesey.

I was wondering if there was a deal to be made at the draft for a top 15 pick if sergachev is still sitting there. for instance could bozak or gardiner and pitts first plus one of the seconds be enough to get a top 10 or 15 pick?  I'm not sure.  or maybe along the same lines as you are...

My biggest question mark on this team going forward is goaltending.  I think they'll need to target someone via trade.  Maybe one of the blues or ducks goalies. And they need to draft at least one this year to start some depth at the position.
