Yeah I'm talking this year.  Oh yeah if he's not a point a game player in 3 or 4 years then the leafs are in trouble.

I think I'm more tempering my expectations a little. He looked really good and he is going to be playing centre where he will be able to make more of an impact.  It is also very impressive that he essentially started the tournament as the 13th forward but then moved up to the first line. I...

the only reason I am hesitant to get too over excited about matthews is that hes not playing with a mcdavid/mackinnon here as good as nylander might be. That being said I am interested to see what he can do when hes sheltered a bit.

I'm excited to see zaitsev, matthews, marner, and andersen but I'm particularly interested to see how some of the better depth players do. guys like hyman, soshnikov, brown

I wouldn't mind it as much if there's something in it for fans.  For example remove tv timeouts during the game and trim a good 30 minutes off the length of the entire event.

I think we're on the same page.  I do think they will be better than last year and if they are in the bottom 3-5 teams I will be dissapointed but likewise if they challenge for a playoff spot I will be thrilled with their improvement.  I expect they will be somewhere in the 7-10 range from the...

but what about some of the teams in the upper half of the league falling? For instance...is this the year that detroit falls off a cliff?  what if chara is more awful this year and backes shows his age,  what if lundquist finally starts slowing down, what if montreal doesn't make the...

Babcock talked about having way too many guys for spots on the team and I think the leafs are getting there.  I really don't see michalek or laich or greening as counting towards that.  I take Babcock to mean having more young and in their prime players than you need. So I think that saying...

I remember stephen burtch on twitter talking about his nhl/khl comparables and that he should pretty comfortably be a top nhl point producing d-man due to his shot totals...its all analytics  ;)

I understand it was to clear up some roster spaces and he was a warm body on a team that didn't have enough but man, what a waste of a top 6 winger spot for an entire season!

not super dumb but i questioned the grabner deal. and they tried to sign bolland the year before that.

still waiting for the leafs to do something dumb. every minute they don't makes me happier and happier!

also, how bad are the red wings going to be!

love what the leafs have done so far!!!!

I'm questioning the market on scoring wingers right now just because of the hall trade.  Maybe they can't get good enough value for him to trade him right now.

aaaaannnnnd...forsberg is signed 6 years 36 million.

oh man...I forgot forsberg.  theres a centre I wouldn't mind giving up some picks for.

I mean...there are a handful of rfas that might be worth a 1st and a 3rd offer sheet or a little over 5 mil per season. seth jones, trouba, dumba, lindholm.  dekeyser would be nice but not for a 1st and a 3rd, same for barrie. I like kucherov. I don't think anyone is getting offer sheeted...

after thinking about it for awhile I now would like them to just get bpa...star potentia. that might mean small and skilled.  like debrincat or girard.

I still think they go D and maybe a goalie with the later 2nd?
