I seem to lack the skill to show the tweet... but Eric Duhatschek has left the Globe and Mail after 17 years there and is now also with The Athletic. This is very cool. I signed up when it was just Mirtle. This is all great for hockey coverage.

This is from David Alter. I found it interesting that he never mentioned James Mirtle. But I like Wheeler and Mirtle covering the Leafs, so even though I was okay with Alter, I won't miss him.

I think Zaitsev is projected to log more minutes than a 3rd pairing guy. He is likely ahead of Polak.

I think there is a much better chance they finish in 30th overall than make the playoffs. Leafs, Yotes and Canes should battle for the basement all year.

And I think that watching this will be more exciting than watching the big team on the ice for the next couple of years. I might prefer a Marlies game this year over a Leafs game and I suspect I am not alone on that.
