They didn't get fortuitous bounces for a month because they got approximately 0 quality chances for a month. It's not a coincidence that as soon as they start emphasizing possession rather than dump and chase, the goals have begun going in.

First, this isn't really true. There have been questions about Babcock's relationship with certain players forever. Second, I don't really get why it's surprising that players or ex-players wouldn't criticize an active coach. The NHL is a small community. You don't really want to be interfering...

I think it's the right call. It was a really dangerous  and unnecessary play. It wasn't like the other guy turned at the last second or anything. I got hit in a similar way years ago and crunched my neck and back. Pretty scary at the time.

In what way was that Babcock hockey? I'm not even trying to be funny - the Leafs have had few (if any?) multi-goal leads all year. Being ahead is foreign territory right now.

Babcock was seemingly in the heads of 90% of the current team. From everything we've heard, he seems like a stubborn prick who was probably a nightmare to play for, particularly given that he absolutely refused to learn from (or admit to) his mistakes or make even obvious improvements.

Babcock was obsessed with puck separation/retrieval because he preached dump and chase. It doesn't matter as much when the team stresses puck possession. This is not a "minor adjustment" but a fundamental change in philosophy that Babcock failed to make in many stubborn years as coach.

Kerfoot has to get that puck out. Terrible lazy play.

Babcock would have benched him for 5 games.

They?ve looked better in the offensive end than they have all year. Which is hilarious considering that Keefe has had about 3 minutes with the team.

Finally. Also nice to see the Tavares line immediately shaken up (with the correct moves being made). Promising start for Silverfox.

Nice to have public recognition of what many people have suspected for years - Babcock's "system" was inconsistent with the skillset of the team and the way the roster is built/designed to play.

It's too early to judge the defencemen trades as misses, though I continue to be bewildered by the fact that Ceci was signed following the trade. The RFA signings of Matthews and Marner were both pretty inexcusable (particularly the latter). Generally though, Dubas's approach to team-building...

I have a strong feeling Barrie is going to be a whole lot better under Keefe.
