So the options next year for Marner is either Junior or NHL right?  Could he be loaned to play in Europe similar to what Matthews is doing or does his NHL contract not allow for that?  Would that even be a good idea? How many questions can I ask in one post?

Agreed.  He's lost the confidence of the coach and I would expect several of the players which is not a good combination.  My guess is that he hangs around for this season and if things don't change the Leafs cut bait during the off season for whatever they can get.  If his play turns around...

I'm not disagreeing with your assessment that something has creeped between the ears but he's been letting in soft goals since the day he arrived.  The first one that I recall was the icing vs. the Hurricanes that he knocked into his own net and that was Game 8 of his first season with the Leafs.

The move was obviously to rid the Leafs of the Clarkson contract and for cap space.  I would be surprised if they make him show up as they most likely don't expect him to ever play again.  Why waste their time...

This is very surprising to me.  Has the potential to really upset Bernier.  While I'm not the biggest Bernier fan, I'm not sure he deserves less than what he received last season.  I expect a $4mil salary for him next season in one form or another (through arbitration or another bridge deal).

Same here.  He'll be a perfect fit in Pittsburgh as the third wheel.  Crosby and Malkin will still dominate the media's time and all Kessel will need to do is fade into the background and score goals.  Similar situation to Marian Hossa with the Blackhawks...

Don't the Leafs still pay some of Gunnarsson's salary?

Could he be more valuable at the Trade Deadline perhaps?  A 2nd rounder is good but a late first or 2nd round + is better and I wonder if he can fetch that at the trade deadline when there is more urgency to win by teams who are in contention.

I read an article about the Blue Jackets looking to trade up to #3.  If that doesn't happen, would it be smart for the Leafs to drop down to #8 and pick up a second rounder or two (or more)?  At #8 Zacha, Barzal, Werenski and maybe even Crouse will be available I would expect. Does it make sense?

Surely the condition on the 7th rounder is if he is signed so it's either McKegg for Hyman or McKegg for a 7th rounder.  I'd be surprised if it's both.

You can teach skating, you can't teach size.  At this point in the rebuild either one will fit what the Leafs need so it's a win/win situation as far as I'm concerned.

This is probably right.  If I'm not mistaken, players pay cheques stop at the end of the regular season while their contracts run through June.  I would expect coaches to be paid in the same manner.
