Marincin is quite good without the puck and as Nik says, he's league min. salary. Even compared to Lily he's more reliable on D (presumably hence why he's played the last couple games while Lily hasn't) and I guess the Leafs feel that's more important right now than slick passing.

Nice to get a bit more production from the 3rd line. Kerfoot needs to stay as 3C.

And to add to the weird full circle thing, the Pens played like dog poo in their loss 5-2 to Buffalo this afternoon.

Since the Christmas break the Cap are 11-10-1 and they're a contender but the Pens who have been through even more injuries and are 16-5-2 over the same period arent't? Dallas at 15-5-2 isn't a contender but the Blues at 10-9-4 are? I get the gist of what you're saying but...I'm confused.
