What a terrific shift by Gardiner on the power play.  Why doesn't Babcock play him ahead of Phaneuf on the power play?  (And please don't refer to the comparative differences in their shots  ;) ).

Kadri's goal is especially impressive after suffering that late hit while he was falling in the first period.

Gardiner looked so good in rushing the puck during the latter half of the power play.  Why isn't he on the first PP unit along with Reilly?  This might be especially the case since the Leafs are 29th on the road.

What a terrific play by Komorov and earlier Parenteau on Kadri's goal.  It is a small miracle that the game is tied after all of the quality chances that the Blues had in the first.

Totally agreed. It's a speed game and the Leafs have two terrifically talented young skaters in Gardiner and Reilly.  They should be given more power play time IMHO. The Leafs played really well as a team tonight (perhaps their strongest and most resilient game tonight). But they were out...

Bad rebound by Rask.  It's nice to finally have a soft goal in favour of the Leafs

Another too many men penalty by the Leafs.  It seems that the players are always just coasting when they come off at the end of their shift which precipitates those type of calls.

That goal was one of the weakest Bernier  has let in this year.  And that is a really low bar....

The game is really not in doubt now (as if it was after the Habs' first goal). But the Leafs have taken too many bad penalties this evening, with Phaneuf's selfish penalty at the end of the second period being perhaps the weakest of them all.

And Cherry also said that Revere was at bat with the bases loaded which of course is wrong. But with Cherry there is no reason why basic facts should ever undermine his point. Isn't it time that he should just retire?

Thanks for posting that link (again). ;) It seems that Babcock will be looking at playing Reilly and Gardiner on the power play  starting the year.  And seeing that 2nd goal that the Leafs scored in the Detroit game, it may be that the upside is better than in previous years.  The quick puck...

I certainly agree with you that the power play rarely had him take many one-timers.  But the tenor of the NHL seems to be faster and quicker, especially with puck movement, and perhaps he is not fast or quick enough to justify having him play ahead of Gardiner and Reilly on the power play this...

I agree that the best thing for the Leafs is to try to maximize Dion's trade value. He did play virtually every power play last year, however.  I don't know how much more the Leafs could do to maximize his offensive game.  Moreover, arguably Reilly and Gardiner should be the top two defencemen...
