Certainly the term "must-move" is a subjective one, depending on the necessity of getting rid of his contract or his mistakes (again the  idiotic pinch in the first minute of the game against Ottawa), etc. By all accounts, he seems to be  a  classy guy, who is good to the young players. But...

That is certainly one interesting perspective on his trade value.... I find it interesting that he is viewed by some, I surmise,  as a power play stalwart yet he hasn't had a power play goal this year, and last had one in February last year.  And this is playing virtually every Leaf power play...

What a terrific game (by Leafs standards). That the Leafs came back with 2 in the third was one of the highlights of this year (which again isn't saying much).

I was at the game and it was perhaps even more one-sided than TV showed. The Panthers speed against some of the Leafs defence  (especially Hunwick and Phaneuf) was particularly evident. Reimer was really hung out to dry, but the last goal was Raycroftian. I did see some of the Leafs players'...

With the trade deadline at the end of February, and with the usual names being thrown out  (Polak, Bernier, and Winnick),  perhaps this might be the best time for the Leafs to try to maximize their captain's trade value. Say what you will about his mobility, puck movement, lack of scoring...

What also made the game so interesting is looking at their play tonight in contrast to last year's bad road trip to California where they were simply outmatched.  This team doesn't quit.

And Gardiner starts the power play, makes a terrific play at the blue line and the Leafs score.  And (once again the lamentable line:  why isn't he on the first power play unit every night?)

That was the second time that Phaneuf was pinching that resulted in a turnover and eventual goal for the Kings.  (And incidentally Millen is in characteristically insightful tonight). ;)

Gardiner starts the power play and gets the assist on Parenteau's goal.  Maybe now Babcock might put him out there first more regularly.  (And this will finish my pitiful rant on this little topic).

Gardiner was starting the last two power plays which resulted in a goal and then a post  (and near goal) by Holland.  He brings so much more to the power play IMHO.
