Lets not forget the potential for Paul Ranger to be a steal of a deal, perhaps the biggest.

I know its tough to gauge these guys against inferior preseason lineups but I found MacWilliam very mobile and positionally sound and more so than Granberg in that regard.  He makes Fraser look like he is skating with guards on.

Love to see Devane and Rosehill go, I don't want Clarkson fighting in a preseason game.

Speaking of cap, did anybody catch the Sportsnet panel with their guesses for the Leafs opening night lineup.  Lol, like they could come close to getting that lineup under the cap, morons.

Year in the AHL and replaces Fraser next year likely.

Nice little play by Granberg there breaking that up.  Yep I love this MacWilliam kid.

MacWilliam was solid out there, I was very impressed.  I mean this guy is very mobile out there for a big bruising dman.  He should easily be able to replace Fraser in the bottom pairing  at the very least in a year or two.  Ranger, Raymond and of course Kadri also stood out in this game for me...

So what amounts to 4 NHL ready forwards if you count Colborne as it appears his situation pretty much ensures he starts the season with the Leafs and 2 Dman with significant NHL time in Liles and Ranger, Ranger having sat out for a few years and Holzer the third with limited NHL time. ...

Kadri??  So you think he is going to sign a one year deal this summer, I very much doubt that.

Now with some job security he may feel a little more inclined to further put his stamp on this team, not that he hasn't already begun that process.

Man of steel!!! Good question though, I am sure that may make him a bit more tentative.  I would imagine this would be investigated by both parties and the Leafs may even use it as a negotiating tactic both now and at the hearing.

I really like Fraser in the 3rd pairing with the cap crunch we are facing.  I like that he hits, clears the net, drops the gloves and does so on the cheap.  Sure he makes mistakes but they were limited in my eyes and his game far exceeds his contract value and that will be so important going...

Fraser and Ranger also work pretty well.  Ranger may give up a bit on Liles on the offensive side although Liles seems to have slipped in that regard anyway.  However, he is bigger (4 inches taller and 30 lbs heavier) and should be better defensively.  Not a bad trade off for a 2.8 mill...

A huge question mark though both because he has been away from the game and also his mental makeup as far as wanting to play this game.  I doubt he gets anything substantial and I doubt anybody else was knocking at his door.  If Nonis hands out more than 925K he must think the last CBA abolished...
