I'm shocked, really. I thought he was using the Leafs as a bargaining manoeuver with San Jose. I guess he really enjoyed playing for Mike Babcock. Wasn't there someone who said veterans wouldn't want to play for him?

I read something on Twitter this morning that he was injured. Give that the weight it deserves. There's a more important injury to panic about anyway....

What defines 'humour through understatement' for you?

I'm willing to say he was adequate. Liked his puck handling. It's been awhile since the Leafs had a goalie who didn't treat the puck like it was a live grenade.

The timing of this makes me laugh. It's almost as if they waited for the media to launch its "There's trouble! There's trouble!" campaign and then: Oh look - here's the contract signed.

...but Kapanen has. Go figure.

Why don't those types of goals go in for the Leafs?

They were monitoring goalie equipment for awhile - I remember Kris King was one of the guys going around measuring pads and stuff. Did they just stop doing that? (I know they stopped talking about it.) When did they stop? Was it a conscious decision or did they just drift away? So many questions.

Goaltending is soooooooo important and I don't really feel confident that we have any young studs coming along. Having said that, and especially given our history with bad goalie trades, I don't think they should rush into anything trade-wise. Sparks did just win AHL player of the week or...
