    Kings @ Leafs - Nov. 13th, 7:00pm - SN

The only thing that lineup missing is an endorsement from Leon Trotsky...my GOD that's alot of lefties!!!!!

2025-26 Toronto Maple Leafs General Discussion

I do feel like there was a point, maybe 2-3 years ago, where Matthews was started to look like an elite, prototypical centre. His back checking and defensive prowess/confidence was really showing and he was grinding in corners, taking people off the puck at both ends of the ice. It definitely...

Red Wings vs. Leafs - Oct. 11th, 7:00pm - SN

That being said, hyperbole to the effect of "the team is a joke" is pretty silly, considering the team has consistently made the playoffs and battled the NHL's best team(s) repeatedly. I'm not sure why everything is always 100% one way or the other... Also, I'd argue that "the future is bleak"...

Red Wings vs. Leafs - Oct. 11th, 7:00pm - SN

Ugh, slow and laborious with an inability to shoot; all the while giving up many more shots against...After the trudge of that type of hockey last regular season, I'm not sure how long I can keep watching this for...

2025-26 Toronto Maple Leafs General Discussion

Bennett played 6 seasons in Calgary and never once hit (or would have been projected to hit) 20 goals or 40 points in a season. He was then traded away, after lots of opportunity to produce. Not exactly concerning. As for the first two guys on your list...well...it's Calgary...I'd put more...

    Idiocracy 2024

Well, apparently you can't question anything you're told, now that the FCC has managed to oust Kimmel. Very scary situation over there...

2025-26 Toronto Maple Leafs General Discussion

What Carlton said. And I know this probably means next to nothing but I do like the idea of a right-handed RW; I think the rest of our wingers/centres (save Nylander and Roy) are lefties? Knies Matthews Konecny

Marner to Vegas is finally happening

I mean....if the Leafs actually win the Cup this season, wouldn't that undoubtedly mean, in some way, shape or form, it WAS because of his disappearance?

2025-26 Toronto Maple Leafs General Discussion

I was a big fan of picking up Konecny before the Flyers signed him long term; is there a hint of chance he's available? Like, we gave them a 1st and a pretty good prospect for what appears to be a 4th line winger, they have to be willing to help us out a bit?

Marner to Vegas is finally happening

I think there are alot of folks who are angry that Marner didn't sign and either blame him (anti-Marner), or the team (pro-Marner). Obviously the plan was to extend him, and it just didn't work out.

Marner to Vegas is finally happening

Oh, I understand people who wanted to see Marner traded years ago, before the NMC clause kicked in, bemoaning how this turned out, absolutely. They have carte blanche to criticize management's decision to keep the core 4 together. The ones who always wanted Marner re-signed; however, no rue for you!

Marner to Vegas is finally happening

I have to say, I don't really understand the hyperbole and the rehetoric from each of the "sides" (i.e. anti vs pro Marner) about this whole situation. Marner wasn't traded 2 years ago before his NMC kicked in because Shanahan/Management wanted to keep him long-term. Then, within the course of...

    2025 Offseason Thread: Spring Cleaning

As Herman also mentioned, we're talking about 1st and 2nd round matchups almost exclusively against Boston, Tampa and Florida. Every single one of those series, except one, went a full 7 games. I definitely think there needs to be a change and that Marner leaving might be a blessing in disguise...

Playoffs Round 2: Panthers vs. Maple Leafs

With the benefit of hindsight, sure, but he was a 3rd round pick, big-bodied forward who had scored decently in his first 80 or so AHL games (20 goals, 40 points as a 19-20 year old) and was, what, 21 years old at the time of the trade? Maybe he was an average prospect instead of above average...

Playoffs Round 2: Panthers vs. Maple Leafs

Huberdeau, Weegar, 1st rounder and an above average prospect for Tkachuk, who basically would only go to 1 destination, is an absolute haul of a trade, considering all of those cicrumstances. And if I recall correctly, many pundits loved that offseason for Calgary and predicted them to go far...

    2025 Offseason Thread: Spring Cleaning

I found this pretty puzzling too. I can maybe accept the argument that Robertson made a few major mistakes resulting in Pacioretty coming in for him for a game. I also feel that Pacioretty established himself as a mainstay in the lineup thus forward. But how can Robertson not be given another...

    Armchair GM Thread 2025/26

The "first" was partly in jest but I was just curious as to what the consensus would be. If SJ really works as a prime destination and the Marner camp wants to maximize the overall contract dollars, the rights for the #1 free agent in a weak year might creep up in value...(although I doubt...

    Armchair GM Thread 2025/26

Yea, I could see SJ too. They have two 1sts and two 2nds in each of 2025/2026. Could we possibly snag the worst of the 1st rnd picks for the opportunity to sign Marner to a lucrative 8-year contract?

    2025 Offseason Thread: Spring Cleaning

I agree with that. I still don't know why that means Nylander should be criticized as much, or more than Marner, especially since the latter didn't, you know, play defense all that well those games either..
