I was a big fan of picking up Konecny before the Flyers signed him long term; is there a hint of chance he's available? Like, we gave them a 1st and a pretty good prospect for what appears to be a 4th line winger, they have to be willing to help us out a bit? :unsure:

I think there are alot of folks who are angry that Marner didn't sign and either blame him (anti-Marner), or the team (pro-Marner). Obviously the plan was to extend him, and it just didn't work out.

Oh, I understand people who wanted to see Marner traded years ago, before the NMC clause kicked in, bemoaning how this turned out, absolutely. They have carte blanche to criticize management's decision to keep the core 4 together. The ones who always wanted Marner re-signed; however, no rue for you!

As Herman also mentioned, we're talking about 1st and 2nd round matchups almost exclusively against Boston, Tampa and Florida. Every single one of those series, except one, went a full 7 games. I definitely think there needs to be a change and that Marner leaving might be a blessing in disguise...

With the benefit of hindsight, sure, but he was a 3rd round pick, big-bodied forward who had scored decently in his first 80 or so AHL games (20 goals, 40 points as a 19-20 year old) and was, what, 21 years old at the time of the trade? Maybe he was an average prospect instead of above average...

Huberdeau, Weegar, 1st rounder and an above average prospect for Tkachuk, who basically would only go to 1 destination, is an absolute haul of a trade, considering all of those cicrumstances. And if I recall correctly, many pundits loved that offseason for Calgary and predicted them to go far...

I found this pretty puzzling too. I can maybe accept the argument that Robertson made a few major mistakes resulting in Pacioretty coming in for him for a game. I also feel that Pacioretty established himself as a mainstay in the lineup thus forward. But how can Robertson not be given another...

I agree with that. I still don't know why that means Nylander should be criticized as much, or more than Marner, especially since the latter didn't, you know, play defense all that well those games either..
