Luke Schenn Traded to Flyers for JVR!!!

That's the one thing about this deal; JVR (who I'm not a huge fan of to be honest) has much more upside than Schenn.

Luke Schenn Traded to Flyers for JVR!!!

While Schenn hasn't been great, his teammates haven't done him any favours either. The goaltending behind him has been atrocious and his coach was not a fan of guys like Schenn. I suspect he would have played better with Carlyle. With that said, if they can land Schultz, it's hardly a loss and...

    Well played.

    2012 NHL Entry Draft

Something that stuck out for me: Pierre McGuire said that Rielly (seriously who intentionally misspells their own name?) adds much needed mobility to a Leafs blueline that lacked mobility. Gardiner, Gunnarsson, Liles and Phaneuf can all be considered mobile defenders. Not great defenders mind...

All quiet on the Leaf front. But why?

I'll say this regarding the Leafs; they are the ONLY team not to make the playoffs since the lockout. I know that fact might be over-quoted, but I really do believe it is a great example of Toronto's futility. That has very little to do with external factors (which exist in all Canadian cities)...

All quiet on the Leaf front. But why?

I think it's more a combination of managerial incompetence and poor luck that has resulted in the Leafs Stanley Cup drought. I really cannot accept that a lack of patience has contributed in anyway to the Leafs lack of success.

    We can love each other!

Honestly, I wouldn't have watched the video if it was a heterosexual marriage proposal. I don't know what that says about me.

    Phil Kessel

Sure, but adding Seguin onto this team isn't going to turn the Leafs into a defensive juggernaut. He's only one guy - just like Kessel.

    The Brian Burke Thread

I think icing a winning team goes farther than just providing playoff revenue. Winning would build the Leafs brands and help the Leafs expand into other markets. I'm not saying that happens after one failed playoff push, which is why MLSE has never seen too desperate to make the playoffs, but I...

    The Brian Burke Thread

I don't see any reason why their margins would not remain constant. In fact, players don't get paid during the playoffs, so you can subtract player salaries (and, all full time staff salaries) from their playoff operating expenses because those are already part of the regular season's operating...

    Game 66: Bruins @ Leafs 7:00PM SNET-0

Phil Kessel is 5th in points and 3rd in goals playing with a third line centre and a 28 year old who already topped his career high in points. How is he a complimentary piece?

Tyler Bozak: So maybe he's not 1C. But maybe he's 1A-C?

From what I see, he just can't match the skill level of the top line, which I think hurts them all offensively - even if Kessel and Lupul are playing up to the highest of expectations. Stajan's a great comparison. Mediocre centre with some skills but overall, should not be playing with the...

    The Brian Burke Thread

Count me in as extremely disappointed in Burke, but not because of his failure to get anything accomplished today. Today was not the only day to make a move, it was just his last chance. The team he built is sliding and all he can say is he believes in this mediocre collection of hockey...
