We seem to see this the vast majority of games and comment in it and there isn’t any change. 44 should be benched for a game just to change his bad play/approach/indifference. Isn’t his gap control among the least effective of any defenceman that we see in the NHL? What does Berube see...

That may be the biggest detrimental effect of Tanev’s injury. Rielly’s defensive game is not good enough to be a consistent penalty killer. Why doesn’t Berube recognize this and play Stetcher? Nevertheless a great team win and a terrific game by Matthews.

Power play goal with the Nashville forward literally standing right in front of Woll and Rielly watching him and not doing anything to move the forward.

Agreed entirely. How many times does Rielly play too deep in the offensive end and is the direct cause of a 2 on 1 or a breakaway. And nothing seems to be done about it. And when does he beat anyone one on one any time he rushes? But does any reporter discuss this (aside from Bourne)?

Robertson is one of the best players for the Leafs. I hope he plays regularly in all the games going forward.

Agreed entirely. What is the downside in using OEL on the power play? He has a shot. He makes quick decisions with the puck. And he doesn’t telegraph every pass. And the opposing players don’t over commit with Morgan because he hasn’t been a threat with a point shot from the blue line...

There is certainly a valid argument that the core should be broken up. It may be something as simple that the Leafs don’t offer a contract to Marner and lowball Tavares to a very friendly team contract. If he doesn’t agree just let him walk. Valiquette on Kyler/Bourne was really insightful...

Jones just went through Rielly like he was a JrB defenceman. Where is the physicality of this defencemen when you need it?
