Jankowski has the 1st rnd pick "pedigree" and size that everyone covets but is the same age as Kerfoot and has produced significantly less offensively thus far.

Eh. Kerfoot had 42 points this season while getting a pretty hefty amount of PP time while Jankowski had 32 with almost no PP time and getting a regular PK shift. In a vacuum, considering the Leafs' needs I'd rather have Jankowski.

Yea, I guess Toronto isn't hurting for offense and could use a little more size. I just think there's alot of untapped potential with Kerfoot. He's strong defensively, can skate and has great playmaking instincts. That last part could really benefit us too, especially if Bracco turns into nothing. And his production is pretty niced based on 14 minutes of ice time per game.

Admittedly I know a little less about Jankowski so take that for what it's worth. I love Barrie (and his reduced cap hit) so that tips the scale alot for me too.

For some reason I thought Brodie was coming off a rough season, but his numbers actually looked great. I'm not even really sure I understand the idea behind that trade on Calgary's side considering they already have Monahan and Backlund locked up long-term at centre.

Regardless, Barrie's the best piece in the two potential trades so I'd rather swing for the fences with him.

This may be wishful thinking on my part but if the Leafs could have gotten Calgary to eat some of Brodie's money the way they did with Barrie then Brodie + Jankowski at, say, 3.75 vs. Kerfoot and Barrie at 6.25 might be the difference maker if the savings represented the difference between Ceci and Gardiner.

I grant, however, that that is not all that likely a scenario.

Nic sorry expressing IMO
Gardiner was never getting resigned. He is unable to compete when it is important. I.E. "the Playoff"

I will disagree a little here. Back in the 1st series with the Bruins, Gardiner was really good. He was also pretty good in series #2 but had a horrible game 7. This past year he was hurt. I do agree tho that the Leafs had/have no intention of signing him at the price he'd command.

Gardiner in game 7’s is kind of like Kadri in game 2’s (?) . Once you’ve seen the same movie twice and know the ending it’s time to move on.

Both found a way to tarnish their reputations, at the worst possible time when the pressure was at its greatest....Twice .

Andersen was bad in both Game 7's.

Andersen was bad in both Game 7's.

You’re right , and I clearly remember reading some media reports after this year’s game 7 suggesting it was concerning, but options are pretty limited to find a replacement for him. Although I’m sure they’d strongly consider other ideas if it were to happen a 3rd time.

So can players be bad in a couple of game sevens and then be good in the future or no? Because if yes, you can bring Gardiner back in a reduced role. If no, we shouldn't have a lot of hope for the team while Andersen's in net.

Kerfoot and Kapanen can still qualify

This isn't Eric Lindros we're talking about, Kadri's legacy needs to be respected.

The Leafs will probably go ahead and draw zero penalties next season out of said respect.
