As much as the game has changed and some like the no hitters that we see thatís what irks me about yet. The Hyman hit whether it was late was questionable and not like it was a vicious hit. But now this is what we see even when itís a clean hit someone goes after another player. Itís bulls**t.

I don't understand how you can say Hyman's hit was questionable.  It was clearly late.

Marner, Tavares, Andersen all managed to have their worst games of the season on the same night.

You know Andersen won't stay above .930 for the season so he's bound to have a few stinkers to bring the average back down to normal for him

Literally no one has ever claimed to like a game without hitting.

No one.

3/4 of the Leaf's lineup would prefer it.

We're going to litigate the heck out of this Hyman/McAvoy hit right?

Was it an elbow?

Shoulder to chest as he skates by at almost 20% speed. McAvoy is not expecting it and as a slightly smaller person than Hyman (like -1", -1lb), goes flying.

Look how terrible it is:

Flying elbow from the top turnbuckle.

He wasn't going at high speed but a player shouldn't have to expect getting hit 2 seconds after releasing the puck. McAvoy was relaxed there not braced for a hit besides why should he have been? I know we're Leafs fans but that doesn't mean we have to defend every single action by a Leaf player

I don't like the hit much, but when I look at that link, and pause it when the puck leaves mcavoy's stick, there's only just over a second before hyman makes contact. Is that too much? I'm not sure what the standard is, but it didn't seem anything like what the commentators were making it out to be.

I count at least 17 seconds.

1 second game speed is a pretty long time.

10/10 times in a regular game, Hyman just skates by. There are many, many forechecking opportunities where he is in position to blow the defender up to take him off the puck with a slightly different route but he always goes for the hit and stick.

This time, he is clearly frustrated by how the game is going (and being called as Boston finishes their checks all the time) and he goes out of his way to give McAvoy a jolt. It's maybe half a second beyond the norm. He actually had a clear lane to come up behind McAvoy and really steamroll him if he was so inclined, but he slows down instead and checks him front and centre.

It's a bad hit. It's not a suspendable play.

Wagner's though, if Rielly didn't protect himself at the last microsecond, would've been a call to the principal's office. Seeing as how the NHL does not worry itself with policing intent, it'll also be a nothing.
