I like Leivo better than Ennis. He seems to understand the defensive game/positioning better and has used his body effectively, especially this year. That said, I understand the move.

Key point about using his body effectively.  I saw a lot of value in Leivo and he was one of the more effective players along the walls deep in offensive zone who cycled the puck well.
If this team has thoughts about going deep into the playoffs, or even a series for that matter, they need players of this nature that will grind and help wear down the opposing D.  Let's face it, Hyman is truly our only heavy forechecker/grinder on this roster and for me, that is not enough. Your PP isn't going to carry you through the playoffs.

How about a 4th line of Ennis/Goat/Marchment?

This move is more about rewarding Leivo for being a good soldier the last couple seasons while freeing up the needed roster spot. You can't blame him for wanting to be moved to a team where he would get more ice time and prevent his NHL career from being further marginalized.
Good on Dubas for accommodating him!
If Leivo hadn't have reached out this summer, it's probably someone like the Goat or Marincin being the odd man out instead.

Best of luck to Leivo in Vancouver.  Hope he plays regularly and finds the net, neither of which he got to experience much with the Leafs.

Sniped a nice goal in his first game as a Canuck.

It still seems strange that we gave away a guy with his size, skill-set and strong possession numbers.
