Vegas is sitting on: Schmidt, Theodore, Miller, Brannstrom, Hague, and to a lesser extent Reinhart. They've got some other garbage but those are either waivered or expired next year. I'm a bit jealous of that future backend.

I might disagree but there are teams out there that view him as a top-4 defenceman, like Ottawa. And surely now Dallas, I'd imagine they'll try playing him with Klingberg to see if he can have similar results with another free-wheeling Swedish defenceman. If they value him like that then $4.9mil for the next 2 seasons isn't absurd. I'd rather have that contract than Kris Russell's or Karl Alzner's next deal.
