Main Leafs Hockey Talk / Re: Trade deadline moves
« on: January 17, 2019, 06:37:06 PM »
Honestly, I 'd rather do nothing than something at the deadline. The Bolts are way ahead of the rest of the league. But they've been through many more years like we are going through now. This isn't our year and I hope for the "you said this" posts. I'm more on the side of selling expiring contracts than trading assets.

I'm not in favour of any big moves, but, moving a mid-round pick or a marginal prospect to get a guy that could help the team? I think you gotta make a move or two like that, because anything can happen in the playoffs. It's usually not the best regular season team that wins the Cup, it's one teams in the next tier, where the Leafs will be. It could very well be their year - I mean, it's not like they'll be sneaking into the playoffs in the final weekend of the season. No reason to give up before things really even get started.

I'm sure that the Bolts fans had a similar dialogue years ago. Of course we all believe in the Blackhawks, Kings, Pens model. Frig it I think the other teams should try to emulate the Leafs model. Not sure if it's the right model, but it would be very cool having stupid hockey analysts glamorizing how Dubas made us great.

I call bull#$#% on the video review. Yes, the puck crossed the line but Freddie made the save before it did.

Weren't they called the New England Whalers at one point?

6
Nylander looked like shit.

Brian Burke is an embarrassment to SoortsNet/CBC and himself. From his shabby appearance to his severely outdated way of looking at hockey, he has no apparent appeal at all.

Why is he on TV?

He's looking for Cherry's job.

I think if Nylander doesn't sign with the Leafs, he is a moron and let him rot elsewhere, anywhere! I feel very confident the Leafs made him a fair offer. If he cares more about money than his teammates and winning a cup, he can screw off.

I kind of feel the same way, but I'm trying not to post stuff like this to avoid giving Islander fans fodder for the boo-frigging-hoo fest they will throw if Nylander doesn't re-sign.

Golf clap.

Kadri's from London, not Toronto.

That explains the accent

Just noticed that we are the only to not to have a "loser" point.

That's cause we're not losers, we're winners.

I like the way you think

I'm sure others have looked at this, but all-time TML stats....

http://www.nhl.com/stats/player?aggregate=1&reportType=season&seasonFrom=19171918&seasonTo=20182019&gameType=2&playerPlayedFor=team.10&filter=gamesPlayed,gte,1&sort=points,goals,assists

I love how it is sortable.

Zach is 2 shorties away from tying Sittler!!

Jake just let Nash go there....still brain cramping.
And takes out Freddie to. Dumbass. Don't see the Leafs paying large to keep him.

They better not.  He is certainly replaceable.

I know right, he like needs 2 skates

Well they are part of a union. I can't speak for every State here, but most States have laws regarding the matter of discussing salaries. Nebraska for example doesn't allow it while on company time but while not getting paid you can talk all you want.

Again just wondering.

Long time lurker here (since Plaidworks), I remember back in the day hearing about rumors from folks in this group that were close to the ground. With the current technology, I wonder if the big 3 are texting each other about Willie's contract. All 3 seem like they're friends. I'm not speculating on any of them, but I wonder how much they are communicating with each other.
