I turned 40 this year. I'm now growing out a full beard and getting my first tattoo next week.

Am I experiencing a mid-life crisis?

Hey Bullfrog, people experiencing mid-life crisis at different points in time. Might be, might not. You could just be looking for a change.

Also, it seems after your first tattoo, you will want more. LOL

Hubby got his first tattoo last November at 48 yrs old. He's always wanted one but he now has one full sleeve and one half sleeve. And he bought a bike this past spring. He's definitely going through a mid-life crisis but hey it could be worse.

Did you name him John Tavares?

Close... Joshua  ;D

Thanks all. It's been a whirlwind week and it's funny how you already can't recall what life was like before he came along

The best advice I can give you on parenting is to not take any advice on parenting.  Do what works best for you and yours.

And it's okay to get mad and frustrated. Also crying is fine. And the fetal position from time to time.

LOL so true!

Congrats on your new little man. Enjoy this time cause it flies by, trust me!

Hugs to everyone dealing with this. It's a struggle and one I don't wish on anybody.

My daughter was diagnosed with generalized anxiety at 15. She got in to see a child psychiatrist so fast due to her age. Even when she turned 18, her Dr kept her on until she started university that fall, just to make sure she was doing well. Unfortunately, after that, she had to just go through her family Dr and get a referral for another psychiatrist now that she's an adult.

Thankfully, her child psychiatrist had set her up so well and with all the support she had through her CYW in high school, now at Uni and the support from myself, hubby and her siblings - she's been able to continue on with no ill effects. It's really scary in the beginning, but it does take time.

One of the sad things is Puerto Rico will be ignored by the news now.  Something unavoidable that causes many deaths and illness.

I feel horrible for the families of the fallen in Vegas but their deaths were preventable.  Instead people will rush out and buy more guns in response to this.

I've never understood the gun culture in the U.S.  I'm soon to be 49 years old and I've never held a gun in my life.  I don't think I'm missing anything.

I grew up in Newfoundland. My dad hunted but he never kept any guns in our house. They were always locked up out of the house. They had somewhere in the community where people could keep their guns.

My husband is a police officer. Never brings his gun home unless he absolutely needs it. Maybe 1 or 2 times a year. Separate safe for the gun and separate safe for the bullets. Not even in the same rooms. And on that rare occasion that he has to bring it home, it bothers me. I've never been a gun person and I just don't understand how it's like a cell phone to some people. Boggles my mind.

And sad sad time in Vegas. Sympathies and condolences to all the families that lost loved ones and all the people injured.

Leafaholic99, thinking of you. It does sound like some anxiety. My daughter has generalized anxiety. It can just pop up out of nowhere. Definitely talk to someone (counsellor, dr, etc..) it really helps. Lots of support and we're always here. Good luck!

Hoping that...

1. Nylander and Gardiner continue to be brilliant,

2. Rielly, Hunwick, Hyman, Kapanen, Boyle keep up the good play,

3. Kadri, Komarov, Brown, Carrick, and Andersen have big bounce back games,

4. Matthews finds his away around the hard match and takes over, and

5. Bozak, JvR, and Marner finally get something going 5v5, because if 4 doesn't happen we'll need em to pull this one out.

I just hope for a Leafs win.

Me too!  Don't care how they get it, but just win.
