Goofy Draft combine questions:
Montreal: what animal would you be? Would you grab a $50 bill in a toilet?
Utah: what's your Snapchat record and Uber passenger rating?
Colorado: *plays board games*
Nashville: if you were drafted into a war, would you be sniper, pilot, or medic?

Leafs as usual: *plays a brief hockey clip* what happens next, and what would you do if you had the puck?

The uber one at least actually tells you something about the person, even if it's not directly related to whether or not they're good at hockey.

I like that one and the board game interview. The Leafs one does seem to fish out the hockey nerds and game analyzers.

HockeyProspect.com released their final 2024 top-32 draft rankings this year here. They are a somewhat under the radar draft service but notable since they were the only ones to place Knies and Cowan in the 1st round of their respective drafts. Based almost entirely on that information I'm now reasonably confident that the Leafs will be selecting either Sam O'Reilly (forward and frequent linemate of Cowan with the Knights this year) or Jesse Pulkkinen (6'6" Finnish defenceman who can skate in his 2nd year of draft eligibility) with their 1st pick.

Quote from: herman on June 12, 2024, 07:53:48 AMThis one is very intriguing to me, especially for the ranking disparity.

Might not be my top pick but does sound pretty promising.

I will say I'm not sure if this is just a particularly deep 1st round or writers are just getting better at highlighting the positives of prospects but there's been a very high number of prospects that should be available at 23 that sound very promising.

It seems like it's pretty deep in quality non-elite level guys. Lots of potential middle 6 forwards, 2nd pairing D, etc., that could obviously blossom into more. The top end of the draft actually feels a little on the weaker side, but the depth feels strong.

I was somewhat-kinda-sorta joking about it at first but I think I've talked myself more and more into wanting London's Sam O'Reilly. Somewhat different styles of play between him and Cowan but a lot of similarities as far as their trajectories it seems.

Every year I read the scouting reports for round 1 and every year I wish the Leafs had 5 or 6 first round picks. Those guys who write the reports should get themselves into marketing.
