Game notes
CBJ
•Elvis Merzlikins (7-8-6, 3.20 GAA, .907 Sv%) will likely start for the Blue Jackets
•Columbus will face off against the Leafs for the 3rd time in the month of December. One big change from those games will be that Columbus is missing their top defenceman in Zach Werenski, who left their last game with a leg injury and is considered week to week at this point

TOR
•Ilya Samsonov (5-2-5, 3.79 GAA, .871 Sv%) will start for the Leafs
•The Leafs are expected to welcome back Mark Giordano, who's been out with a hand injury for just over a month now. He was paired with Liljegren at practice while Simon Benoit practiced alongside McCabe

Through a quirk in the schedule, we play Columbus every other game from now until the end of the season.  Should build a rivalry for the ages.

Keefe saying Sammy need a couple days off to get his sh*t together. We'll see I have my doubts. I expect another high scoring game like 5-4 and coin toss on who wins it. I'm expecting 16 & 34 to have a big night. Looking at the injuries on the Columbus side should be a victory for the Leafs.

Looking forward to how the team responds tonight. They lost their "post holiday let down" game to an inferior opponent so I want to see a consistent effort out there; they should be motivated. Play solid defense - they have a fragile goalie so they need to tighten up defensively and shut down the highway to the net. Of course, if they score 5 or 6 goals that would help too.

I suspect that barring injury, Samsonov probably gets the whole game tonight. Should be interesting!

Guilt Trip

Marner gets a fortuitous bounce off a skate and a nice tap-in..

Ok Sammy....
I didn't say it was your fault, I said I was blaming you.
