Aho plays the more important position, is a smidge behind him offensively (0.96 PPG last 2 seasons vs. 1.02) while playing with the likes of Seth Jarvis and Teuvo Teravainen instead of Matthews or Tavares, is the vastly superior two-way player, and is a primary penalty killer. So I think you have that backwards personally.

Agreed. I absolutely love Nylander, but would I trade Nylander for Aho?  Yes, 100% of the time for the defense and because he is a center.  On the other hand, would Carolina (or anyone) trade Aho for Nylander?  No.

Yeah. This more or less sets a ceiling for Nylander.

The Meier and Aho signings have pretty much perfectly set the range for Nylander I feel like. Those numbers should basically be each sides starting points. Mid point of those deals is $9.275mil. I know it's early and this is all a process but it's a little distressing that neither side appears to be all that close to that.

I'd really like to see that number closer to 9.  I think Nylander is much closer to Meier than he is to Aho.
