Game notes
FLA
•Alex Lyon (9-3-1, 2.88 GAA, .914 Sv%) will likely start for the Panthers
•30-year old journeyman goalie Alex Lyon has played a big role in Florida's push back into a wild card position. He's started their last 6 games and has gone 6-0 with a .956 Sv% in that time

TOR
•Ilya Samsonov (26-10-5, 2.36 GAA, .917 Sv%) will likely start for the Maple Leafs
•All eyes will be on Matthew Knies, who signed his ELC contract on Sunday. His playing status hasn't been confirmed but with only 3 games left in the season it's likely the Leafs will want to see him play as much as possible. If he doesn't dress for this game expect the Leafs to use 7 defencemen with Jarnkrok hurt and Simmonds re-assigned to the Marlies

My top 5 interests in the remaining 3 games are as follows:

  • Seeing Samsonov/anybody else not get hurt
  • Knies
  • Finding a non-EBUG goalie to give Samsonov at least 1.5 games off
  • Knies
  • Marner100, Matthews40, Willy40

That is a good bucket list for the next 3 games. There is nothing more for the Leafs to play for, So I would give Woll 2 of the next 3 starts.

Woll has earned the opportunity. Only makes sense to use him.

On a different note entirely, is there no way the NHL does not review that "non-assist" by Marner
from the Habs game? The Habs D man clearly never has ANY form of control of the puck. Nit-picking I know but if this causes MM to end up with 99 points as a fan I'd be annoyed..especially because it's you know, the NHL being the NHL...
I didn't say it was your fault, I said I was blaming you.

If it hasn't been changed by now, it's probably not happening.

According to David Alter: a ATO (amateur tryout) goalie will be rostered tonight. I guess it keeps them under the cap, Woll puts them over. I wish they would give Samsonov a break. If he gets hurt it would be a bad look for the Leafs having him play meaningless hockey.
Upon the wicked He will rain Jerseys; blue and white and burning waffles will be the portion of their cup.

Welcome to the world of a so-called "major league" sport. What a joke.

League didn't feel like it, apparently

Emergency recall admin said, ah that's enough for today.

Very likely the league is just ruling that the Leafs created this cap emergency by signing Knies instead of recalling Woll.

Legend in the making

I'm sending a bill to the NHL for my time (billed at my standard rate of $150/hr) adding this guy's name to the MotM Excel.  That damn spreadsheet is 200 rows deep and counting.
