Game notes
OTT
•Cam Talbot (16-14-1, 2.88 GAA, .902 Sv%) will likely start for the sens
•Tyler Kleven made his NHL debut in Ottawa's last game after finishing his NCAA career and picked up an assist in his debut. Kleven is somewhat connected to the Leafs as Ottawa picked him with the 44th overall pick in 2020, which they received from Toronto in return for the picks the Leafs used on Hirvonen and Niemela

TOR
•Ilya Samsonov (24-9-4, 2.47 GAA, .913 Sv%) will likely start for the Maple Leafs
•A road game against Ottawa does seem like a more likely game for Murray, but Keefe has spoken about trying to get away from Samsonov playing most home games and Murray most away games so we'll see
•Radim Zohorna, who the Leafs acquired at the trade deadline for Dryden Hunt, was called up from the Marlies on Friday and could be in line to make his Leafs debut

Mount Zahorna is the highest point in Croatia.*

Just checked the standings for the first time in awhile.  The last month of drifting leaves us in a group of 10 or so teams in the mid to upper 90s or low 100s league-wide.  (And then there's Boston....)

On the one hand, it's about what can be expected of this lineup.  Our core 4 forwards are very good, 2 of them elite.  The defense and goaltending are good, but not standouts.

On the other, I can't get over the nagging feeling that other coaches get more out of their teams.  I have said it before: I don't see anything in Keefe that makes me think he adds a lot of value over and above the general competence you'd expect from any NHL coach.

Anyhow, these games this weekend are important to nail down home ice in R1.

Just in from watching his little brother clinch a third consecutive British league title in a row for Belfast. Hopefully he's left enough of the family coaching luck to Sheldon for this years playoffs 😀
I Saw Jay McClement Score.

Two teams playing for different things.  Not liking the slot opportunities the Leafd are giving up.  Fortunately Samsonov has a horseshoe early on and the Sens have flubbed a few passes

Ottawa with all kinds of intensity.  Smith seems to have them playing the way he wants them to.
