This feels both like an underpayment and a bad move for the Islanders.

Wow. This feels like the isles are trying to circumvent a rebuild, and instead of being a contender, they'll continue to commit to be just be good enough not to get better.

Seems like a cheap price to pay for Horvat.

Well they lack goal scoring so Lou is trying to fix it apparently. Glad he didn't go to Boston or Tampa

I was thinking the exact same thing.

A Weekend at Bernier's

Lou trades Horvat away and now he's finally got him back.

If the Isles don't sign him, this trade makes very little sense (only marginally more if they do sign him).

The thing is, it doesn't strike me as a bad return for a rental player, even a 27 year old one but it seems like the Canucks could have done a lot better by opening Horvat up to extension talks and making that part of the trade.

And that's still all the Nucks could get? Yikes.
There wasn't a better offer out there? Beauvillier makes 4.1M, next season as well.

Significantly Insignificant

I wonder what this does to the prices for other players.  Deal is pretty underwhelming.

Probably doesn't affect them much seeing as the Islanders might not even be playoff threat.  Cheap return for Horvat though

Timing plays into it for me. If this deal happened late on deadline day, then at least you could feel as though they explored every possible avenue and found this was the best deal they could get. But, thus far away from the deadline? Feels like they jumped the gun. They didn't have to make this deal for a few weeks, and even if the Islanders weren't willing to wait, I have to imagine another team would have happily put forth a similar offer in deadline day.

Well I'm glad he didn't go to Boston. At least not yet I guess.

Do they even have the cap space?
