Well that sucks. Hopefully that gives him time to potentially heal any other bumps and brusies he has though and he'll be fully healthy for the home stretch and playoffs.

Let's hope.  Also they have a fairly "easy" schedule with the exception of Boston upcoming.

I mean, all those games up to Sabres/Wild are winnable even without Matthews (*Boston notwithstanding)

The ASG break gives them a full week off too so he'll miss less actual games than if this injury happened at a different point in the season.

Speaking of the ASG... Nylander?

They're sending Barkov unfortunately (games in Florida).

Good for Barkov, don't like ASGs, really don't like TO's best risking injury for such stupid functions, other stupid functions are anything not directly related to the NHL like World Cup Hockey(can't remember name), Olympics, etc.

Well that sucks.  But yeah if he's going to get hurt, better now when the schedule is lighter.  Catching Boston at this point seems unrealistic anyway

I think the leafs have surprisingly good record with Matthews out, unless I'm mistaken. So a few guys need to elevate their games like they have in the past. Agree that it might be a good opportunity to get him healthy for the stretch run and skip the ASG.

Leafs are 31-16-2 without Matthews.

Nonetheless, we suck.

Kerfoot will go full McDavid mode now to make up for Matthews being out
