QuoteWord is they've spoken to a variety of potential replacements, including those currently employed by other NHL organizations.

Sources say Curtis Sanford made a particularly strong impression.

He's expected to join the Leafs organization after working the past five years for the Vancouver Canucks in goalie development.

Here's a really good write-up of Curtis Sanford, and the influence Ian Clark has had on his playing and coaching career.

Okay, early returns, and not going to dig into the goals saved above expected but...

Small sample size still, but check out all these goalies fans wanted instead of who we got.

If Petruzzelli goes back to the ECHL once Woll returns (if?) the Growler's will be playing on cheat mode with him and Cavallin there.

The Marlies are kind of crushing it in the early goings and not through overwhelming offense.
The Growlers have yet to lose in regulation (11-0-1) on the backs of Cavallin (6-0-0) and McKay (4-0-1).

I think Petruzzelli deserves a shot at the Marlies net (finally), to help ease Woll into game shape.

The pipeline is pretty solid even without a high-end bluechipper like Askarov and two of the earlier potentials getting felled by injury (Woll/Scott).

McKay is the next Arturs Irbe.  Somebody show me how Fanduel works so I can lock in my future winnings.

They already are in cheat mode with Cavallin and McKay.
I don't think he goes back to the Growlers.
Marlies will have Woll, Petruzzelli and Ferguson, who's numbers aren't all that great compared.

And Kallgren, but yeah they'll probably run 3 goalies while everyone is healthy. Ferguson likely gets released from his PTO.

Yes and Kallgren. I forgot about him.

All of sudden, the Leafs seem to have a lot of depth at the Goalie position, whereas two years ago, next to zilch. Hopefully one of these guys can be the next Potvin/Sawchuck/Cujo etc.

That's why I wanted to start this thread. Dubas didn't just do nothing here. We also have the pair of Russian goaltenders and Hildeby overseas putting up relatively decent numbers against professional leagues, all without significant asset spends.

Kallgren is (1 year) older than Samsonov (RFA)!

https://russianmachineneverbreaks.com/2022/11/18/darcy-kuemper-versus-the-ex-goalies-ilya-samsonov-and-vitek-vanecek/
RMNB takes a quick overview of Washington's goalie du jour vs the ones they let go of. Guess which one sort of comes out on top of things at the end.
But also makes the case that having good skaters and a good system up front can really make the goaltending role easier to fill without going nutso on a UFA splash.
