Andersen's main weakness is broken rush plays and we got'em with two.

Maybe one of the easiest assists Matthews has notched. Following one of the easiest goals last game. All thanks to Willy.

Quote from: CarltonTheBear on November 06, 2022, 11:26:03 PMThis win brought Kallgren's Sv% up to .904. Here's a list of notable goalies that currently beats: Jarry, Markstrom, Knight, Bobrovsky, Andersen, Quick, Fleury, Nedeljkovic, Blackwood, Binnington, Demko, Kahkonen, Swayman, Campell, Petersen, Merzlikins, Grubauer.

Not bad for a sieve.

I mean I did say that when he got scored on with an awful goal in the beginning of the game and thought that would set the tone for the rest of it. Glad I was wrong.

I think the question that needs to be asked here is if the Carolina Hurricanes need to blow this thing up?

Do they fire the coach?

Switch over the core?

That's an ugly looking goal, but it was definitely a weird angle play that a goalie would have to have eyes on the back of his head to cover, and a bit of skill/luck for Noesen to hit the limited space for the puck to bank in. There was no real decision-making error or physical impediment on the goalie's part.

I give more credit to Noesen for reading the tipped shot and one-timing the banked puck so deftly.

The deserve-to-win-o-meter doesn't look favourably on the Leafs in this game but I think they played a pretty solid game given that it was a back-to-back with travel 20 hours apart against a rested team.  They mostly kept Carolina to the outside and really limited their in close chances.  Kallgren made some nice saves.

I think Kallgren was cheating a bit, maybe anticipating the puck being thrown back out front with the Carolina player creeping down between the hash marks.

Hard to say if the Carolina player in the left circle meant to bank the puck off the boards because it looks like he half fanned on the shot.

Noesen wheels around and one times the puck into the back of Kallgren's thigh or off his glove.  Noesen wacked the puck pretty hard for it to be an attempted pass back out front, so to me it looks like he meant to try to bank it off Kallgren since Noesen knew the goalie was on the move.

Look on the Carolina fans' faces = priceless.  I'd look that way too if Freddie were still on the Leafs and letting that one in.

Also, I remember the announcers praising Slavin as one of the most solid defensive defensemen in the league ... which he is.  The most impressive thing about that goal is not that Willy scored it, it's that he got it off at all.

Guilt Trip

Great individual skill by both Marner and Willy on those goals.

They should probably tank to get a good draft pick.

Lucky for them I hear Trotz is available.
