I'm genuinely shocked that Tavares is planning to play today.  Oblique injuries suck.  I trust the team to not play him if he isn't ready but I hope this isn't Tavares just wanting to be out there for opening night.  We need a healthy year out of him.

At 2:58 of that video Tavares talks about the difference between his past oblique injury and this injury which seems more like a contusion.
It seems like he's being sensible and not rushing himself into the lineup backed with some rational medical facts.

I thought he should be on LTIR to be safe if it was a second oblique injury. But it appears to be different and not as severe. Hopefully, that remains to be the case.
