Why do we care? He hasn't been a good goalie in a while now.

He won the Vézina last season!
I really consider that an outlier and he's going to be 38 in November. I don't see why he'd ever be an answer for the Leafs.

Actually 2 seasons ago. He was yanked in favour of Talbot in the playoffs, no?

This season isn't over until free agency starts.

As for being replaced by Talbot, there were injury concerns in there, as well.

For someone who wanted to play for a contender I'm a little surprised Fleury went back to Minnesota. They're coming off a great season sure but they just traded away their 2nd best forward for nothing and I'm not super confident they can count on another PPG season from a 35-year old Zuccarello. This is also when those Parise/Suter but-outs REALLY start to hurt them with almost $13mil in dead cap space this upcoming season and almost $15mil the season after that. Really tough to build a contender with that restriction.

Maybe he didn't want to move his family again? Seems weird to me.

I don't get it either.  He's won Cups, but if he really wanted a challenge and wanted to cement his legacy as an all time great goalie, what mountain is harder to climb than getting the Leafs to a Cup?  Whoever is in net if and when the Leafs win the Cup, will be talked about in song and story for decades to come.  Statue building stuff.

Even going to Edmonton I think would have been a better option for him. Maybe he just really liked Saint Paul.

You know Campbell is going to Edmonton if Leafs don't re-sign him.  They can't help themselves but to snap up every ex Leaf

I'd rather they pay him 5x5 instead of the Leafs.
