If he's claimed the Leafs shed his entire cap hit and open up some money for a Samsonov RFA-extension next season.

Obviously I'd want to have 2 NHL tested goalies going into the playoffs, but...

That's actually a really good idea, unless I'm missing something. If he's picked up as a claim its a win, and they can get another backup before the deadline, and if he clears, it's a win to get some room and get him up to speed with multiple starts.

Murray is a proven stanley cup goalie, you just don't throw Woll into the fire like that. If ANYTHING happens to Samsonov and they traded away/let Murray walk, Leafs season is over.

IF Murray can go back to that November/December form Leafs will be fine in the playoffs.

FWIW, Källgren was the back up goalie last year in the playoffs.

Wait, wait, wait....are we seriously not including the smash hit "Secret Garden" in the Springsteen Leaf list? Murray DEFINITELY has a garden of some unknown substance hidden somewhere in Toronto...

Something I learned while writing that is that Bruce Springsteen has recorded a lot of songs over the last 50 years.
I wish to hell I'd never said "Winning isn't everything it's the only thing". What I believe is, if you go out on a football field, or any endeavour in life, and you leave every fibre of what you have on the field, then you've won.

and Carolina just picked up Gostisbehere, whose name I spelled correctly in one try from memory, for very cheap.

I've always been a fan of Mr. GhostBear but I mean the defincienies in his game are pretty undeniable at this point. Good offensively, not so much defensively. Carolina not getting any of his $4.5mil AAV retained is also pretty noteworthy, especially since Arizona is already retaining on 2 deals and might want to retain on a 3rd before Friday. I doubt any other playoff bound team would have taken him at his full cap hit so the Coyotes getting a 3rd is actually pretty good business for them. Reminder too that they got him for free along with a 2nd and 7th rounder a couple of years ago. Turned out to be a solid investment.

Any particular reason?
I'm on the fence about him. I think he's kinda overrated. He gets 3 mins of PP time per game, has 4 goals and 19pts, doesn't hit much, doesn't kill penalties so he's like Bunting,(pest) but doesn't score?

Let's see how you feel when we get Domi.

I liked Bertuzzi, but didn't think he'd get a 1st rounder. Tough to not get him, even tougher that he went to Boston of all teams. Looking like slim pickings for forwards on the trade market now.

Slightly increases the odds of Knies playing games in the playoffs, assuming he signs and doesn't look out of place in his short late season audition.

I would be interested in taking a run at Buchnevich and running a St Louis transplant line for funsies.

Bunting-Matthews-Nylander
Jarnkrok-Tavares-Marner
Buchnevich-O'Reilly-Acciari
Aston-Reese-Kampf-Lafferty

Kerfoot would have to go the other way or be shed in a separate transaction. Probably too expensive to get the cap retention required for so many seasons left.

Word is Domi for a 2nd down the road. Do you do it for our 3C and leave ROR where he is or you could even switch them if need be.
