I'm shocked at Calgary's implosion.

Perhaps they were hoping Calgary taxpayers could score some goals.

It's still surprising but this feels more like a Markstrom-specific implosion. Tough to win a series with .850 Sv% goaltending and from the bits that I've watched he's let in some real doozies this round.

I guess but are they really that good a team? I know they had a very successful year but they had 4 forwards who scored 40+ points. By comparison the Panthers had 8, the Lightning had 7 and the Leafs and Avs had 6. As far as I can tell, none of their defensemen have ever received a Norris vote and their #1 guy, at least in terms of ice time, his best year prior to this year was one where he had 22 points. Markstrom had a big year and it looks to have carried them to big results in a pretty weak division.

I don't know, I didn't watch them much this year so can't say for certain but once you get past goaltending and their top 2 forwards, when you line them up with the other teams that really excelled this year it's hard not to see them as stacking up pretty badly.

I just thought they'd be like the early 2000 devils and suffocate their way through the playoffs.

Fair. I think that's where CtB makes his point. The early 2000 Devils only work if Brodeur plays like Brodeur.

Two very top-heavy teams duking it out. Not really surprising that the one that's leading is getting the better goaltending. More surprising is that it's the Oilers getting the goaltending.

Yeah absolutely.

Horrible goaltending and really overall play. Both teams have no idea how to play D. I think St Louis and Col beat either team handily, nevermind what TBay could do.

Disagree with the called back goal.  If Calgary loses this game over that call....brutal

McDavid vs MacKinnon could be fun, but Edmonton's lack of depth and defence will cost them.

Agreed, that was a bad call, not sure how that was not a goal.

Yeah. Coming in on a high from the series's against the Flames, the Oilers aren't going to know what hit them over the head when they face the Avalanche.
