Okay, nice for the leafs to finally get a pp but I'm sorry, the refs have been terrible.

I've said this before but I'll say it again for those new or didn't see it. I live out west and one of my golfing buddies doesn't watch hockey anymore. His take since Bettman became full fledged commissioner for a full season no Canadian team has won Lord Stanley. Coincidence?

No. Five different Canadian teams have made it to the finals since Montreal last won the cup. I think it is just that the league has started to catch up.

Didn't have it tonight. Can't take that many penalties but they got totally jobbed by the refs. Decent grit at the end. On to the next game.

Exactly.  And though they were helped somewhat by the refs, Tampa Bay played like we all know they can play.  I'll take consolation out of the fact that the Leafs have put 8 behind Vasilevskiy.  Marner and Matthews have shown up.  Now we need the 2nd line to, too.

Not a great result but the game was fairly even at 5-on-5, Vasilevskiy played great but we still got 3 on him which is pretty tough to do in a playoff game, reffing was awful, a couple of bad breaks on the PK and bad penalties by Simmonds was basically the difference. This series is far from over.

Man I don't get the PP mentality. Down by 2 goals 6 on 4 with a minute or two left and we pass it around. Shoot the puck, have a screen and hopefully bang in a crap goal whatever. Instead of killing it and rifling the puck around the boards after a shot from wide. Matthews and Reilly both had shots from good positions on the ice but no. God you are down two goals.

Significantly Insignificant

Tampa was 3/7 on the PP.  That was the difference in the game.  If the Leafs can get back to not taking penalties and killing off the ones they do take, that will go a long way to helping the Leafs in this series.

It was the unnecessary penalties that killed them. Two bad penalties by Simmonds and that hold by Kerfoot at the end of the first were the ones that got scored on.

I agree that they got jobbed but only because Tampa was not getting called for doing the same things.

Guilt Trip

Leafs need to stay out of the box. Enough of the stupid penalties.  Jack needs to be better as well.

azzurri63

5 goals for TB and Stamkos was quiet. Kuch, Vas and Hedman all solid and the difference makers.

BermudaBudsFan

They need to prove it.  Until then same old same old.  Opportunity to get ahead and couldn't do it.  Again.

I agree but JT needs to do something. Earn your 11 million John. Pathetic. No offence and worst of all soft as hell. I hate seeing him take shots, crosschecks, punches to the back and no response whatsoever.

Down 2 and they spent way too much time trying to be cute on the PP

They have been like that all season. So predictable and Rielly still refuse to shoot.

It was the #1 PP in the league.

I was going to say that other than the McDavid Oilers it was the most successful PP any team has had in three years but yours is better.

But yeah. Bad all year.
