Bossy is an interesting line of demarcation for me in that I never saw him play and I don't even think I was a hockey fan until his career ended but everything after him I'm fairly aware of. It's like he and everything before him is the hockey past and everything after him is my era.

Anyways, I hope he has as best a time left as he can and that he can be comfortable and with family.

I remember Bossy well, I "hated" him cause he'd regularly torch the Leafs (as well as every other team in the league). It was only as I got older and appreciated just how great he was that I started to admire what he'd accomplished. Had injuries not slowed him down he'd be right there with Gretzky for all time goals, guy was a pure sniper. I looked up his playoff stats in the 4 years the Islanders won the Cup. 72 games, 61 goals. In the playoffs.  Just unbelievable stuff, I hope he's been able to find comfort and peace with his loved ones during this dark time for him.

Heroic Shrimp

9 straight 50-goal (5 of which were 60+) seasons to start his career, and 38 goals in 63 games in his 10th and final season. He was as deadly a shooter as I've ever seen. The young Leaf fan in me remembers Rick Valve scoring 4 goals the same night that Bossy hit 50-in-50.

Terrible news for the Bossy family.

The cbc now reports that his family denies he's entered hospice.

Wendel's Fist

Sad news.

My favourite number since I was a kid was and still is 22 because of him. I used to call out, "I'M BOSSY!!!" when playing street hockey and everybody would pretend to be some player.

Man, I still remember watching the Islanders win their first cup and it was an afternoon game which seems weird now.

I don't think his streak of 9 straight seasons of over 50 or 60 goals will ever be broken. Gretzky didn't even do that all in a row.

Too bad some of you here didn't get to watch him play. He really was something.

For anyone who might be interested and hasn't read it yet, he did one of those "Letter to My Younger Self" things back in 2017......
