I'm with you for the most part there, but I'm ok with east and west doing 1-8. I don't care to mix and match the east and west.

Oh, I don't really want it either.  I think the unbalanced schedule does play a bit of a role there.

The Leafs are 25-10-2 against the Eastern Conference and 19-9-3 against the West.
Florida is 29-7-3 against the East and 18-8-3 against the West.

It's not necessarily a fair head to head.
